About

Us

Cable Two is a public television network exploring the possibilities of live video as a medium. It's a media project, it's a collaborative community, it's a place. All you have to do to get involved is say hi.

We believe that our mission is nothing less than to revolutionize the way people interact with livestreaming, and to create a more vibrant, and dynamic media landscape for everyone. Cable Two is a threat and a promise.

a creative community that is constantly working, learning, and growing together

cable two aims to empower creators by providing the support, resources, and platform they need to make what they want to make and share it with the world.

Why streaming?

When you’re watching a livestream, you’re there to see something that has never happened, and will never happen again. It’s setting something up to let you see where it takes you. What television and streaming share is their ability to foster shared experiences through curated events in real time.

As livestreaming grew, it began to focus on gaming - which works well for creating shared experiences, using patterns similar to sports - but why limit ourselves to only one style of art, when the possibilities of the form are endless?

We have the resources and capability to make something new.

This is the purpose of Cable Two.

How it

Works

Note paper with paper clip. 3D illustration.

Like any other TV network, making a show on Cable Two starts with a pitch - a short and clear presentation submitted using the form on our website* explaining what their show would be, and how it works.

*cabletwo.net/pitch

After the pitch is submitted, our team reviews the pitch to be approved, often providing feedback for further development or clarification, and in some cases, rejecting ideas that do not align with our vision.

Once the pitch is approved, creators embark on pre-production with Cable Two's support and guidance. We work collaboratively to ensure that all shows meet our technical standards and scheduling requirements.

When a show airs, the creators become full members of our community, with the opportunity to collaborate and work on any Cable Two project. What's more, the creators retain full ownership of their shows, granting non-exclusive broadcasting, distribution, and marketing rights to Cable Two.

The

Financials

In 2024, our goal is to become a fully incorporated not-for-profit public television network, or secure a fiscal sponsorship in conjunction with a nonprofit. We are primarily funded by donations and merchandise sales from our viewers. We believe in transparency and are working towards our goal of organizing our staff and helping to fund underemployed artists in this shifting media landscape.

Our last fundraiser surpassed 200% of our initial funding goal, and our continued funding through donations from our website and twitch has made all of our current goals - in terms of gear, and facilitating some projects - possible, but we want to be able to provide more for our team.

We look towards multifaceted answers for complex problems. We don’t want to just create new ways for people to work within the existing structures of the entertainment industry. While we like the artistic form of linear television, we want to be something new.

Cable Two seeking

Collaboration

green highlight marker

We're interested in working with individuals, non-profits, and brands that share our values.

Currently, we are looking for:

  • collaborations with institutions on public arts programs
  • partnerships with similar streamers and non-profits for fun or to assist in fundraising for free.
  • sponsorships by individuals, non-profits, and small arts businesses for ongoing or one-off events

We offer free on-air commercials for individual artists and non-profits. Cable Two ads focus on brand awareness, but avoid pricing, offers, inducements, or calls to action that are not informational. We like to focus on storytelling and emotional connection with viewers. This provides better focus and engagement from an audience that trusts us.

DM us or contact ads@cabletwo.tv to inquire about opportunities for advertising on Cable Two and The NeTWOrk.

We are not accepting commercials from larger for-profit businesses at this time.

The Past

Cable Two started as a way for friends to have fun together.

During early 2020, while everyone was at home, the founders of Cable Two discovered a joke forum called Twitter2, which was promptly banned after two weeks. In response, we created another forum, a spiritual successor, where we could continue to hang out and joke around, and soon formed a distinctive group voice.

We thought it would be cool to livestream together on a single account, imitating the format of classic television, because it was funny, and we liked the notion that in this digital age, we can. This led to the creation of OrbTelevision, a shared Twitch channel that served as a platform for experimental livestreaming. After several months we decided to rebrand the channel as Cable Two.

Since its inception, Cable Two has been pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the world of streaming, but more than anything, it’s a way for us to have fun with each other. We care about everyone in our group, what we’re making, and we’d like to keep doing it. Now, we’d like to extend that to others.

The Future

We’re creating an ongoing series of interactive films to play for a live audience, opening a world of possibility for live experiences that can only happen once, but live forever after.

We just launched our 24/7 digital television channel called The NeTWOrk, like classic cable - airing episodes from our 1000+ video vault along with new blocks full of syndicated television and films. We plan to expand this into a fully immersive website and curated experience with exclusive idents and scheduling.

We’d like to build towards our ultimate goal of creating our own office space, free community media center and public production studio to provide resources that help facilitate art for others. We are currently undertaking our TWO CABLES project, trading our way up from a pair of cables to a television studio.
